Asphyxia - Respiratory Depression to Respiratory Arrest

Several fans are sealed inside an airtight plastic covering. As the fans continue to operate, the plastic membrane inflates and collapses in irregular cycles—simulating a struggle to breathe. The covered fans appear trapped, their movements growing increasingly erratic as if suffocating under their own system.

The installation creates a closed environment in which mechanical function mimics biological failure. What should provide circulation and air becomes instead a condition of constraint.
Asphyxia reflects on the collapse of systems—bodily, technological, and ecological—when the very mechanisms meant to sustain life begin to restrict it.



Asphyxia - Atemdepression bis Atemstillstand

Mehrere Ventilatoren sind luftdicht in eine Plastikhülle eingeschlossen. Während die Ventilatoren weiterlaufen, bläht sich die Folie unregelmäßig auf und fällt wieder zusammen – als würde sie versuchen, mühsam zu atmen. Die Bewegungen werden zunehmend unkoordiniert, als ob die Geräte unter den selbst geschaffenen Bedingungen zu ersticken drohen.

Die Installation schafft eine geschlossene Umgebung, in der mechanische Funktion biologisches Versagen nachahmt. Das System, das eigentlich Luft zirkulieren lassen soll, wird zu einem Zustand der Einengung.
Asphyxia thematisiert den Moment, in dem Systeme – körperlich, technologisch, ökologisch – kollabieren, und die Mechanismen, die Leben erhalten sollen, zu einer Bedrohung werden.



아스픽시아 - 호흡억제에서 호흡정지까지

여러 개의 선풍기가 공기가 통하지 않도록 밀폐된 비닐 시트로 감싸져 있다. 선풍기가 작동을 멈추지 않는 가운데, 비닐은 각 선풍기의 비틀린 움직임에 따라 반복적으로 팽창하고 수축하며, 마치 호흡을 힘겹게 이어가려는 몸의 움직임처럼 보인다. 구조물 내부의 기계 장치들은 마치 스스로 만들어낸 조건 속에서 질식해가는 것처럼 보인다.

이 설치 작업은 생명 유지를 위한 기술적 순환 시스템이 역설적으로 통제를 야기하는 폐쇄된 환경을 구성한다. 순환과 호흡을 가능하게 해야 할 장치는 오히려 긴장과 압박을 가하는 요소로 작용한다.
아스픽시아는 생명, 기술, 환경의 시스템이 어떻게 붕괴에 가까운 상태로 이행할 수 있는지를 조명하며, 스스로 유지되어야 할 구조가 오히려 생명을 위협하는 순간을 시각화한다.
