This installation enacts a techno-shamanistic ritual, where algorithm and myth co-exist—not as tool and subject, but as entangled agents. It conjures Samsin Halmi, the Korean earth goddess of life, birth, and fate, through a series of AI-generated portraits.

These portraits, shaped by biased data, repeatedly fail to depict the genderqueer, non-white deity I seek to summon. Yet in their failure, a haunting multiplicity arises—not absence, but a presence that slips through dominant modes of recognition.

Rather than represent Samsin, the installation becomes a site of possession, where ancestral memory and machine vision intertwine. By multiplying and obscuring these portraits, it resists clarity—echoing the logic of possession, where identity transforms rather than appears. Samsin does not emerge as a fixed icon, but as a shifting presence carried by wind, code, and refusal.

Set in an open garden, the structure acts as a vessel: porous, reflective, responsive. Visitors may enter, be partially veiled, and perhaps briefly possessed by a gaze that shimmers between nature, machine, and myth.

본 설치 작업은 알고리즘과 신화가 나란히 존재하는 기술-샤머니즘적 의례를 수행한다. 알고리즘과 신화는 수단과 대상의 관계가 아니라, 서로 얽혀서 변형시키는 공행 주체(entangled agents)로서 상호작용한다. 생명, 탄생, 운명을 관장하는 한국 신화 속 여신 삼신할미를, AI가 생성한 일련의 초상들을 통해 소환한다.

이 초상들은 편향된 데이터에 기반해 생성되며, 반복되는 시도에도 불구하고 퀴어하고 비백인적인 신적 존재를 끝내 온전히 재현하지 못한다. 그러나 이 반복된 실패는 단순한 결함이 아니라, 지배적인 인식 체계로는 포착되지 않는 다층적인 신화적 현존을 드러낸다.

작업은 삼신을 고정된 형상으로 재현하지 않는다. 대신, 알고리즘의 시선과 조상적 기억이 교차하는 접신의 공간을 형성한다. 이미지들은 중첩되고 불분명해지며 인식의 명료함을 거부하고, 그 안에서 정체성은 출현이 아닌 ‘변형’을 통해 살아난다. 삼신은 바람과 코드, 그리고 거부의 흐름을 타고 움직이는 유동적인 현존으로 나타난다.

야외 정원에 배치된 작업은 공기와 빛이 통과하고, 표면은 주변 환경과 관람자의 몸을 반사하며, 바람과 움직임에 반응하는 유기적 구조로서 관객을 그 안으로 초대한다.

그 안에서 관람자는 자연과 기계, 신화가 교차하는 시선에 노출되며, 일시적으로 ‘빙의되는’ 감각적 체험을 마주하게 된다.
